AdWatch: The Threat Within

Details of a new television ad from the Bush-Cheney campaign, set to begin airing immediately:

TITLE: "Azzam the American"

LENGTH: 30 seconds.

PRODUCER: Neil Estraveda.

AIRING: Nationally through November 2.

Bush: "I'm George W Bush, and while I'm not necessarily saying that I approve of this message, I sure as heck think that it's something you need to see and give close consideration to."

Visual: ABC news footage. Man in headdress wags finger disapprovingly at the camera while speaking in a voice reminiscent of Count Floyd.

Azzam: Greetings, infidels. I am Azzam the American, and I intend to tell you this truth. Allah willing, the streets of America will run red with blood, matching drop for drop the blood of America's victims. What took place on September 11th was but the opening salvo in the global war on America.

<freeze frame>

Announcer: September 11th. Thousands dead. Opening salvo. Global war. Red with blood.

Visual: Fast forward tape. Azzam caresses gun.

Azzam: You are guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty. You are as guilty as Bush and Cheney. You're as guilty as Rumsfeld and Ashcroft and Powell.

Announcer: Some say that you can best judge a man by his enemies. George Bush has made enemies like Azzam the terrorist. John Kerry has made enemies like Willard Scott.

Image: Smiling Willard. Cut back to tape. Azzam flicks a booger at the camera.

Azzam: After decades of American tyranny and oppression, now it's your turn to die.

Announcer: Your turn to die? Not necessarily. It's your turn to vote.

<fade to black>

Cue: 'Top Gun' theme

Announcer: On Tuesday, vote for the team that has terrorists trembling in fear. Bush-Cheney. No friends of Azzam.
